Fresh off of Dricus du Plessis’ successful title defense, the Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to ESPN broadcasts with a battle between two middleweight contenders.
Rising star Caio Borrallo steps up in a big way when he takes on Jared Cannonier in the main event of UFC on ESPN 62. Both fighters made weight without incident, as did the rest of the 12-fight field. The card also features two notable “The Ultimate Fighter 32” finals at middleweight and featherweight.
“The Killer Gorilla” is the division’s top contender and is looking to bounce back from a recent TKO loss to Nassouddin Imavov. Cannonier (17-7), whose previous wins include wins over Marvin Vettori and Sean Strickland, weighed in at 184 pounds when the 40-year-old stepped on the scales.
This will be the first UFC main event for Borrallo (16-1, 1 NC), who is unbeaten inside the Octagon. The Brazilian, a member of The Fighting Nerds, is 6-0 with the promotion, including wins over Paul Craig and Abuspian Magomedov. The 31-year-old Borrallo is nine years younger than Borrallo and officially weighs in at 186 pounds.
The UFC on ESPN 62 main card will air on ESPN+ and ESPN at 10pm ET/7pm PT, with prelims beginning at 7pm ET/4pm PT on ESPN+.
