UFC fighter Casey Kenney was recently arrested on kidnapping and assault charges in connection to a domestic violence incident last month.
According to Maricopa County Superior Court records, Kenney is charged with six counts, including kidnapping and aggravated assault, in the incident that occurred July 21. Kenney was arrested and subsequently released on Aug. 16. A status conference in Kenney’s case is scheduled for Thursday, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for Aug. 26.
The incident was initially revealed by the alleged victim’s mother on Instagram, and a charging statement obtained by MMAFighting.com detailed a domestic violence incident, alleging that Kenny committed “kidnapping, aggravated assault by strangulation and assault on a female.” [victim] repeatedly punched, slapped, bit, headbutted and choked Jasmine Mendez [victim] Jasmine for a few hours…”

Between approximately 11:00 p.m. on July 21, 2024 and approximately 12:14 a.m. on July 22, 2024, [address redacted], [suspect] Casey Kenney was charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault by strangulation and assault. [victim] repeatedly punched, slapped, bit, headbutted and choked Jasmine Mendez [victim] After several hours of beatings, Jasmine suffered bruised lips, discolouration on her arms and petechiae on her neck.
“Furthermore, during the 13 hours that Jasmine was at Casey Kenney’s residence, she was unable to escape because Casey would grab her and hold her there whenever she tried to escape, threatening further bodily harm. Casey Kenney told Jasmine Mendez that if anyone showed up, he would shoot her, and that if her mother showed up, he would shoot her in the head. Jasmine Mendez stated that she would like to see charges filed in this case.”
Kenney, 33, has not competed in MMA since losing a split decision to Yadong Song at UFC 265 in August 2021. Kenney, a former Legacy Fighting Alliance champion, has a 5-3 record during his tenure with UFC, which began in March 2019.
