In the end, Vadim Nemkov will remain on the Road to Dubai card and not fight Corey Anderson.
Instead, Nemkov will face Tim Johnson in a heavyweight bout on January 25th at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The new booking was announced via Bellator MMA social media accounts on Monday. The highlight of Road to Dubai is the lightweight title tilt between Usman Nurmagomedov and Paul Hughes.
Nemkov was originally scheduled to face Ante Delija at Road to Dubai, but the fight was quickly rescheduled to a trilogy match between the former Bellator light heavyweight champion and Anderson after Delija withdrew from the bout. However, although Anderson criticized Nemkov for refusing to compete, the new match was ultimately canceled for undisclosed reasons.
Nemkov moved up to heavyweight in his most recent bout, scoring a second-round submission victory over Bruno Capellozza in a PFL vs. Bellator bout in February of this year. The Russian is undefeated in his last 13 matches dating back to June 2016.
Johnson, on the other hand, has fought at heavyweight throughout his professional career, which includes stints in both the UFC and Bellator. Over the past year, the 39-year-old has fought under the PfL banner, scoring a first-round stoppage of Danilo Marquez in June and losing by technical knockout to eventual heavyweight champion Denis Goltsov in August.
