The second half of the PFL’s 2024 season begins in mid-June in Connecticut with heavyweight and women’s flyweight cards.
For the first time, the promotion will take place at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The venue was Bellator’s East Coast home for years until PFL acquired it this fall. Week 4 of PFL 2024 he is scheduled for June 13th.
Former Bellator standouts Valentin Moldavsky (13-3) and Linton Vassell (24-9) will meet in the heavyweight main event, the promotion announced on Monday. Moldavsky is at the top of the standings after a first-round KO of Ante Delja earlier this month. Vassell was stopped in the third round by Denis Goltsov.
Only four will make the playoffs, and the top four heavyweights have all won at least four pints, so Vassell will need a finish from Moldavsky to have a shot at making the postseason.
In the co-main event, Dakota Ditcheva (11-0) will take on Chelsea Hackett (4-2-1). Ditcheva is one of three fighters to earn six points in the women’s 125-pound weight class after knocking out Lisa Mauldin in the first round in San Antonio. Hackett, like Vassell, is in a position where he needs a break to set realistic goals for the postseason, as he received an offer from Jenna Bishop.
There are four other matchups scheduled for each of these divisions, but these are the only two matchups announced by the promotion on Monday. Other matches will be announced in the coming days.
After PFL 4 in Connecticut, the promotion will head to Salt Lake City for light heavyweight and lightweight on June 21, then head to Sioux Falls, South Dakota on June 28 for welterweight and featherweight.
PFL CEO Peter Murray said in a news release: “The PFL’s season format will continue to grow with the addition of elite players from Bellator, their return to Mohegan Sun, and PFL Europe’s position in the 2024 PFL Playoffs. “It’s the toughest test in MMA because we’re trying to get it.” “PFL is excited to bring our MMA brand to fans in Connecticut and 160 countries around the world.”
