WWE and UFC may not be planning any major crossovers when it comes to talent, but the two companies will be working together to host an event together in June.
On Monday, WWE announced that the June 9 NXT Battlegrounds card will take place at UFC APEX in Las Vegas. NXT serves as a developmental league for WWE, with up-and-coming performers typically gaining experience working with the organization before graduating to the main card roster for appearances on shows like Monday Night Raw and SmackDown. I can do it.
UFC APEX remains open for WWE events, as that same weekend’s UFC card will actually be held on June 8th at the KFC Yum Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
“We are always exploring new frontiers to showcase NXT and are excited to partner with UFC to bring Battlegrounds to this world-class event and production facility,” said WWE Talent Development. Shawn Michaels, senior vice president of creative, said in a press release.
WWE Chief Content Officer Paul Levesque expressed similar sentiments on social media after the announcement regarding the UFC APEX event was made.
Due to the limited size of APEX, WWE will provide priority seating at the event through OnLocation, a live event service owned by Endeavor, the parent company and largest shareholder of UFC and WWE, both part of TKO Group Holdings. He said it would be done.
The UFC hosts events in addition to fights and the Contender Series at APEX, which also serves as the primary home for Dana White’s Power Slap League, which holds regular cards.
This time, WWE will call UFC APEX home for at least one night, but there’s a good chance this will become a more routine partnership in the future.
The UFC began hosting cards at APEX during the global pandemic and continues to host events at APEX thanks to available in-house production.
